Des Plaines Oasis
From Encyclopedia of Des Plaines
The Des Plaines Oasis was a rest area built over Interstate 90. It opened in 1959 and featured a Fred Harvey restaurant and Standard Oil gas station. The restaurant was replaced by Howard Johnson's and later McDonalds. Its rarely-used address was 1960 Mt. Prospect Road.
The oasis was demolished in 2018 in order to widen the tollway. The ramp to Interstate 490 is on the former site.
