Cook County Republican chairman in 1974,
In 1947, he began managing the weekly Edison-Norwood Review, which served the Northwest Side of Chicago.
In 1951, he became the editor of the Des Plaines Suburban Times until 1963 when he became the publisher of the Suburban Progress, a weekly in Maine and Leyden Townships. During the time, he also began operating a travel agency in Des Plaines with his late wife, Patricia.
