James Roland Williams (1914-2007) was president of the Historical Socety from 1982 to 1985. He donated many of his photographs to the society.

In 1965, Mr. Williams served as a trustee at School District 62 in Des Plaines and then as school board president during the early 1970s. In 1978, he was awarded the annual Community Involvement Award by the Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce.

He led the fight to stop McDonald's from tearing down their first store.
