8/15/87-DES PLAINES, ILL.: Gov. James Thompson (C) surveys damage in severly flooded Des Plaines 8/15. Flash floods struck throughout the Chicago area 8/14 dumping a record 9.35 inches of rainfall in 12-hours. Thompson declared Cook and DuPage counties disasterar areas.
