Barnaby's Family Inn was a restaurant at 636 E. Touhy from 1969 to 2020. It was one of many Barnaby's restaurants. The only remaining in Illinois are in Niles, Northbrook and Arlington Heights. There are at least four restaurants in Indiana.
The Des Plaines restaurant opened October 5, 1969 by its owners Dale Kendricks and Gerry Kehl. They had recently graduated from Barnaby's University.[1]
It was modeled after a 17th century British pub.[1] Kendricks hired a London double-decker bus to travel the streets of Des Plaines to promote the restaurant.[2]
Barnaby's closed during COVID-19 lockdown and never reopened.[3]
